The way I see it, documents is a file manager, and it's what Readdle expects its customers to use because it's free.PDF expert can also double as a file manager (and I was actually on the fence last year as to which app to use for this purpose), but it's primary purpose is editing and annotating on pdfs. It has more powerful PDF management tools (I can extract pages from entire documents, for instance). It's a bit confusing because if you have both apps, they end up with pretty similar capabilities. If you have both, I would say just use PDF expert, unless like me, you prefer to store and edit your documents in separate apps which doesn't sync the changes back to your cloud storage.

Readdle has hired former Apple Mail engineering manager Terry Blanchard in a position that will focus on creating the 'future of email' for Readdle's popular email client 'Spark,' working with an entirely new team of his choosing in Silicon Valley. Blanchard's new role, per his LinkedIn page, is vice president of engineering for Readdle.Spark is modernizing email as we know it. We share a fundamental vision of what the future of email should be. I’ve always admired Readdle for their beautiful and innovative products, which makes them the ideal company to turn that vision into a reality. At Apple Blanchard worked on the Mail team for six years, where he led a team of developers which created and continually fostered updates for the UX design and development of Apple's first party email client, simply called Mail on iOS and macOS.
Besides his new title and location in Silicon Valley, Blanchard's role at Readdle hasn't been given many specifics but it's expected that the engineer will take his expertise in the email client design space and apply it to Readdle's popular stock of iOS and macOS applications.Last November Readdle launched Spark on Mac, bringing the app's Smart Inbox feature to Apple's desktop and laptop computers for the first time. Smart Inbox intelligently organizes email into different categories (Personal, Notification, and Newsletters), making sure important messages are always highlighted first. Spark continuously learns which emails are most important for you to make inbox management as easy as possible, and on Mac also includes Quick Replies.
Readdle today announced that its popular Spark email client for iOS devices is expanding to Apple's Mac lineup with the launch of Spark for Mac.Like Spark for iOS, Spark for Mac includes a Smart Inbox feature, which intelligently organizes email into different categories (Personal, Notification, and Newsletters), to make sure important messages are always highlighted first. Learning capabilities allow Spark to be told when an email is important, and the next time a similar message is received, it'll send a notification. Spark's Smart Notifications are designed to make sure you only get a notification when you get a message worth being alerted about.Spark for Mac includes natural language search, so it responds to commands like 'Find all my emails with PDFs,' or 'Find the email from Eric last Tuesday,' and there are deep customization tools for personalizing Spark to meet your needs.Other Spark features include Quick Replies, Touch Bar support, snooze capabilities, and cross-device syncing.Spark for Mac is available from the Mac App Store starting today. Like Spark for iOS, Spark for Mac is a free app.
Direct LinkUpdate: Readdle says the launch has been delayed, as Apple's approval of Spark for Mac is still pending.Update 2: Spark for Mac is now available for download from the Mac App Store. Readdle's iPhone email app Spark has proven to be quite popular since it launched in May of 2015, and as of today, it's expanding to the iPad. Spark is now available on all of Apple's tablets, from the 7.9-inch iPad mini 4 to the 12.9-inch iPad Pro.Spark is unique because it includes a 'Smart Inbox' that's able to filter emails to show you the most unread important messages first. It's able to tell if an email is personal, a notification, or a newsletter, processing it accordingly. It's designed to let users check to see if an email is important at a glance.Like many iOS mail apps, Spark uses swipes to quickly delete and archive incoming emails. It includes a pinning feature (stars in Gmail) to denote tasks that need to be completed immediately, and there's a snooze feature for putting off emails until another day.
Built-in quick replies let users reply to messages with pre-selected messages, a feature that's useful on the Apple Watch, and there's a smart search for finding messages based on name and time frame.Spark's update optimizes the app for all screen sizes, from iPhone to iPad, and it includes a revamped design. Other new features include additional languages (English, German, Chinese Russian, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, and Portuguese are available) and support for watchOS 2.Readdle is also working on a Spark app for the Mac, but the company says 'it will take some time' to create 'the best email client for Mac out there.'
